Roja

She came to Tucson for it's sunshine and dry climate, to heal. What she received was so much more; love, a pack to run with, and a warm family whom took great care of her. July 16, 2009, Roja, Red, passed away at the Hadfield residence. Survived by family Andrew, Jeanne, Kenny, and Zach; along with the dogs Sevens, Kina, and Stout. May you Rest In Peace, you will be missed.

Monsoons are here!

The monsoons finally arrived! I opened all the windows and turned on all the fans in the house so I could listen to the beautiful storm brewing. I collected 3-4 buckets of rainwater, bringing back to mind that I had neglected to have Zonagardens or some other company out to set up a rainwater harvesting cistern in the backyard. I could have collected hundreds of gallons just from last nights rain! The backyard collected quite a few puddles in the places where I have been creating berms and swales, but I was very happy to see that they went away soon after the rain stopped; meaning that my soil does not have a drainage problem.

Ok, so I miss my brother! It's been almost a month now, and there is only one left to go until he comes back from his travels around China! It's been nice living vicariously through his pictures, especially while in the killer summer class. He started in Shanghi, then on to Nanjing, Wuhan, and is now in Chongqing. He's flying by the seat of his pants so WHO KNOWS where he shall be next! What's really cool is that while he was in Wuhan, he started biking around town with other laowai and showed up in no less than 3 local newspapers! Dubbed the "foreigners", the bicycle gang recieved some nice media attention.

Here are some songs that have been rockin' my world lately...
